BRCC is an umbrella body for Criminal Records Bureau checking and for Registration with the ISA (Independent Safeguarding Authority) for all levels of staff and volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults in regulated or controlled activities.
We offer competitive rates for CRB checking and ISA registration for paid employees and volunteers, with up to 10 free CRB checks per year for volunteers. Your organisation needs to be a member of BRCC in order to access this service (you can find out how to join BRCC here).
Please note, if you are currently using our CRB services, the current application form is being replaced and will no longer be accepted by CRB after 26th July 2010. Please ensure that any applications on the old form reach us no later than 30th June 2010.
We can also offer:
• Support and guidance on the application process and form completion
• Identity checking service
• Training on processes and application procedures

There are two levels of check:
Enhanced - provides the applicant’s full criminal record, information that is held locally by the police that is considered relevant to the post or position being applied for. It also provides a check against the applicants ISA registration status and a check on the ISA Children’s list and Vulnerable Adult’s list, or both, depending on the workforce the applicant is going to work in.
Standard - provides the employer and the applicant with the applicant’s full criminal record. However, because it doesn’t include a check on the ISA’ barred lists, this level of check is not available for those working with children and vulnerable adults.
Through an enhanced CRB check the employer can find out, if they are legally entitled to do so, if the applicant is barred from working with children or vulnerable adults, or both.
