If you or a person you know would like to take a regular break from looking after someone then carers vouchers could be for you!
The voucher scheme is open to individuals living in Bedfordshire only (excluding Luton). This service is not 'means tested'.
If you or the person you care for is over 18 years old, you could receive Carers Vouchers. The purpose of vouchers is to provide carers with a SITTING SERVICE. This scheme offers you a rest from your caring role for up to 8 hours every month. We may be able to issue you with vouchers allowing you to use a paid carer from a list of approved agencies. The paid carer can sit with the person you care for while you do something different and have some personal time for yourself. We aim to make this service easy for everyone.
Some carers use their vouchers to have a regular 2 hour break every week or save them up and have a complete days break. The choice is yours, but the minimum break should be no less than one hour. You may like to use your time to meet with friends, go for a walk, have your hair done or just to shop at leisure.
