Hidden Britain Centres

The Hidden Britain Centres project is an initiative to encourage tourism, to discover lesser known areas of the countryside and to provide a different and more meaningful experience for the visitor.

This is achieved by local communities themselves:

• Drawing up the plans
• Implementing the projects
• Participating in the benefits
• Having the support and guidance of a national network

Benefits to the local community include:

• Promotion of local business
• Encouragement of local employment
• Enhancement of the local community life

In North East Bedfordshire the Hidden Britain Centre consists of six villages along the valleys of the rivers Ouse and Ivel, these are known as the Riversmeet Villages and this external link will take you to much more information about the Riversmeet Villages, places to stay, eat and visit and many other Hidden Britain Centres throughout the country.
