Community Transport Brokerage Scheme

What is the Community Transport Brokerage?

The brokerage provides opportunities for groups with vehicles to offer them for use by organisations with no transport. Some vehicles are equipped with passenger lifts or ramps.

We now have over 100 minibuses that are available to groups and organisations to book when they join the Scheme.

Who can join?

Charities, clubs, societies, community organisations, voluntary organisations, schools, colleges etc. Also any group or organisation that is not properly constituted as long as it is 'not for profit' and is providing an activity or service within Bedfordshire.

Benefits of joining

Using a minibus from the brokerage ensures that your trip is more affordable; is safe and legal; and is provided in a properly serviced and well-maintained vehicle. Benefits to vehicle owners include helping to provide an income to keep your bus safely on the road and access to a bus sharing scheme. Plus you, the vehicle owner, decides upon the conditions of usage for your bus.

Membership information and application forms are available from the coordinator, Stephen Sleight. A booklet explains how the brokerage works for vehicle owning and user members groups, and describes the role of volunteer drivers. Download a pdf version of an explanitory leaflet here. Stephen is willing to meet with interested groups and help in any way that he can.

If you or your group or organisation would like to be actively involved in this initiative or, perhaps, just want to know more please contact Stephen Sleight either by email or on 01234 832645.
