What is Happening in Bedfordshire?


A number of exciting and innovative initiatives have been launched since the Partnership was established, click on the links to find out more:
 
Wheels to Work. Wheels to Work is an approach that helps predominantly young, unemployed and disadvantaged people get to work or training. Click this internal link to find out more.

South Bedfordshire Youth Bus. This is an evening transport service for young people aged between 12 & 17 travelling together. It is friendly, affordable and supervised, giving young people freedom, independence and a social life! Click this link to a pdf for more info Youth Bus Poster for more info.

Chilterns Rambler. The county's premier leisure bus service, running Sundays and public holidays 4 May to 28 September 2008, from Hemel Hempstead to Tring via Ashridge Estate, Whipsnade Wild Animal Park and Dunstable Downs. Greensand Ridge Walk. This is a 40 mile walk through the heart of Bedfordshire for more information and to download the walk leaflets visit the Greesend Ridge Walk Website.

Transport tokens. Is a scheme run by Mid Beds District Council distributing tokens to allow people between 11 and 17 years old to travel in taxis, on trains or in busses for free. Visit the Mid Beds District Council website for more information.

Pedal and Park. Do you know that there are now cycle parking facilities at most major Bedfordshire railway stations? You will need to bring your own lock and you can only leave your bike in a locker for up to 24 hours at a time. For more information please contact your local railway station.

Mid-Beds Bus shelters. A network of bus shelters have been provided by Bedfordshire Rural Transport Partnership and Mid Beds District Council in association with Bedfordshire County Council. All shelters have been equipped with a seat, timetable case and bus stop sign. Click this internal link for a list of locations.

Bedfordshire Community Transport Brokerage. The brokerage provides opportunities for groups with vehicles to offer them for use by organisations with no transport, click this internal link for more info Community Transport Brokerage.

Red Cross Transport & Escort Service. This offers freedom and independence for people who cannot get about easily or use ordinary transport, or who need assistance to travel. Click this internal link for more info about the transport service or contact Carolyn McKee on 01582 589084

Rural Travel Club. A group travel service in north-east Bedfordshire. Operated by North Bedfordshire Community Transport. The service is available for regular shopping journeys to Bedford and elsewhere, and leisure-related journeys in Bedfordshire and beyond. Available seven days a week including evenings. Another Buzzer. Another Buzzer is for Groups of Disabled, Incapacitated, or Elderly passengers who cannot get about easily or use an ordinary bus. Click this external link to the Dial-a-Ride website for more info.

Link-a-ride - Social Services Partnership
An RTP initiative that enables clients to spend more time at Ampthills Social Centre and has made additional vehicles available to Mid Beds Link-a-Ride between 10.30am and 3pm. Click this external link to the Link-a-Ride website for more info.

Wixams. We are working with JJ Gallagher Ltd to provide community transport for this major new settlement based between Bedford and Ampthill. Click this external link to the Wixhams website for more information.

Harlington Transport Initiative. A transport information notice board has been installed in the centre of Harlington, providing a one-stop-shop for transport in Harlington. If you would like to contribute please contact: Nikki Upton on 01525 875 933 or by email.

Harlington Hoppa. The Harlington Hoppa provides a direct link from Tebworth, Wingfield and Toddington to Harlington station on weekdays. Click this internal link for more information.

Green Leisure. Green Leisure is a recently completed programme of access improvements at tourist and leisure attractions across North and Mid Beds. Click this internal link for more information.
