For communities to be sustainable, they must have access to local green spaces and wildlife. This is particularly important at a time when parts of Bedfordshire have been earmarked for significant housing growth under the government’s Sustainable Communities Plan.

Green Infrastructure (GI) is the network of multi-functional green spaces required to meet a community's needs. It consists of both public and private land, with and without public access, in urban and rural locations. BRCC works to develop and maintain GI across Bedfordshire, in close collaboration with local communities and volunteers.
