Community food access
Working in partnership with East Anglia Food Link, BRCC has recently completed a project to improve people's access to healthy and affordable food across rural areas in Mid and South Bedfordshire. The project activities involved an initial research stage, mapping the availability of food across Mid and South Beds, identifying communities where food access was a problem. These areas were then targeted by community development workers with aim of stimulating and supporting community led action to address the specific local problems. A total of 14 community groups participated in the project, delivering a range of practical action, including the introduction of:
- community veggie boxes
- community shops
- community cafés
- community allotments
