P3/ Getting involved
P3/ Getting Involved is a Bedfordshire County Council (BCC) scheme that has been running for over 10 years providing an opportunity for over 95 parishes to improve there local countryside and access and has also enabled local groups to take advantage of the money, training and advice available. We help the County Council by providing support to P3 groups in the East, North and South of the county. CarrieAnne Rowley, Environment & Community Officer, has been helping BCC to support community groups for several years, raising over £70,000 for various project from a 225m easy access path with fishing platforms to path clearance.

The aims of P3 are:
- To improve the rights of way network and wider countryside access opportunities in Bedfordshire through practical projects with P3 groups.
- To let people know how they can get into the countryside using leaflets, map boards and guided walks developed by community groups.
- To enhance enjoyment and understanding of the countryside by providing advice, information, grants, materials and a bi-annual programme of events and training.
- To emphasise how getting into the countryside links in to other rural sectors such as transport, local business, health and the environment.
- To work in partnership with local communities, authorities, landowners and other local and national bodies to develop countryside access projects.
- To enable grant applications by P3 Groups and other partners, increasing the resources available to the scheme.
