Community empowerment

Community empowerment is currently high on the agenda of central and local government.  BRCC is joint lead in the Local Area Agreements (LAA) for both Bedford Borough and Central Bedfordshire for two key targets:

National Indicator 3: Civic Participation
We want to increase the number of people involved in groups making decisions on local services.

National Indicator 4: Degree to which people feel they can influence decisions in their local area

We want to increase people’s sense of being able to influence decisions that affect them. The RCC movement across the country has been working to empower local communities for years, particularly through town & parish plans, which enable communities to set their own priorities for action.

BRCC also manages community and stakeholder engagement projects on behalf of public and private sector clients.
