What is Biffaward?

Biffaward is the fund name of Biffa Waste Services landfill tax credits. We offer help and advice to parish councils and community groups within Bedfordshire for the Main Grants Scheme. This is for grant applications between £5,000 – £45,000 and needs a third party partner to donate around 11% of the project costs.

Biffaward's aim is to support projects that show an innovative use of a community amenity to enhance, maintain or introduce real community led social, economic or environmental improvements.

A Biffaward funded lay area in DuntonThe types of project supported are:

village halls, skateparks, nature reserves, community rooms, museum education rooms, voluntary sector led sporting facilities, internet cafes, green spaces, historic parks provision for children and teenagers, community gardens, civic spaces, cultural facilities, species restoration.

Biffa will not fund: As well as encouraging more applications for projects which benefit biodiversity, the Biffaward Board is looking to put a greater proportion of its money towards cultural facilities. Some of our most notable projects over the years have promoted culture and the arts, and we would like to help more.
Biffaward can help all kinds of cultural buildings projects, great and small, within ten miles of a Biffa operation - with funding available from £5,000 to £500,000. Recent examples include: If you have a project that you think may be eligible for a Biffaward grant first check your project's postcode on the Biffaward website. If it is in an eligible area then contact Sue Norman on 01234 832614 or email: suen@bedsrcc.org.uk for further information and an application form.
